Hello! My name is Viressa Davis, and I am so happy to introduce myself as the new principal of Edgewood Elementary School.

I became a teacher because I had wonderful teachers growing up who believed in me and made learning fun. They showed me how much a caring teacher can help students grow. Now, after many years as a teacher and school leader, I am excited to bring that same care and support to Edgewood.

I was born and raised in Indiana and have worked in education for over 20 years. I’ve taught students in elementary and middle school, helped turn a school from an “F” to an “A,” and led teams of teachers to help all students succeed. Most recently, I’ve worked to help families across a whole school district with enrollment and school choice.

But the most important thing I bring with me is my heart. I’m a wife, a mom, and someone who truly believes that every child can learn and do amazing things. I believe school should be a place where students feel safe, loved, and excited to learn.

I can’t wait to meet all of you—our students, families, and community members. I believe in working together as a team. Your ideas, your voices, and your partnership matter. Let’s make this a great year at Edgewood, full of learning, laughter, and growth.
